STC Parents Begin Pig Farming Project to Build Stronger, Independent Families

In our Organization we believe that empowering families is one of the strongest ways to improve the lives of children with disabilities. This year, we proudly launched a new Income Generating Project (IGP) for parents, pigs farming. This project it is already bringing hope, motivation, and a renewed sense of dignity to many families in our community.

Most parents caring for children with disabilities face significant financial challenges. Many struggle to balance caregiving responsibilities with the need to work, which limits their income and affects their ability to meet basic needs such as food, school materials, and medical support. Through this project, STC is giving families financial literacy training and advice to run this project smoothly. This project will generate money in different channels and will support their current ongoing farming through fertilizers.

The program began by training parents on how to properly raise pigs, covering areas such as feeding, hygiene, housing, and disease prevention. After the training, families received funds to get the essentials  and the basic materials needed to start their small farm and they do it as a group of parents whose children have disabilities and being supported min STC. With time, these pigs will grow, reproduce, and help families generate a steady income through selling piglets or pork.
